So for the first time in I can't remember how long, I started up my car today and forgot to put the shifter into neutral before letting up on the clutch for a second while idling. It stalled, no biggie.

However, the rest of my ride into work the readout for the current gear never came on. I kinda always hated that readout telling me when to shift all the time anyway, but.... it's disconcerting that it decided to shut itself off, regardless. Anyone else ever have this issue?

yes, for some reason if you start your car not from the "off" position, the gear/shift indicator only works intermittently. so when you stalled, the car was in the acc/on position and the gear/shift indicator doesn't like that when you start the car back up.
Excellent! Indeed, driving at lunch, the numbers were back.
