OK.. So I'm taking my MZ3 to get it serviced on Wednesday and checked MyMazda.com for coupons today to same me a little $$$ on the service.

One of the Coupons listed is this...

Is there really newer software for the ECU on our cars or is the a bunch of BS to get them to come up with crap to charge me more for? How do I know whats on it now and is there any improvement from this to a newer version?
I know on my truck (2001 F-250 Diesel) that I have had my ECU flashed on it a few times to improve some issues I was having with engine and transmission issues.

it says its FREE, how would they be "coming up with crap to charge you more for"? talk to the guys in the service department. in the end, it's still your choice.

Have no clue! But I did buy my car from there! Let me know what you decide! Maybe its worth the 2hr drive for me if it works. To be honest, I do think its just BS though.

Omitted from mymazda.com, so I assume my designated dealer isn't equipped to offer this service yet, or my built June'2010 2010 MZ3 s Sport 2.5l 6-spd came with the updated ECU firmware from the factory? I would be extremely interested to learn of ECU updates for the 2.5l, e.g.: what specifically changed and why, and the impact on power output and efficiency under various operating conditions....

Well, my wife dropped the MZ3 at the dealer this morning. They old here that they'd check to see if there was an update for the ECU software, that they'd flash it. I'll report back later tonight on what they do.

Looks like they updated the ECU software but the service ticket didn't say from what version or to what version. We are having an ice storm right now, so I'll have to pop the hood later and see if they put a sticker under the hood or something.
