Ok so I have a small oil leak developing (I think). It's a plug right above the far left spark plug on my 2014 Mazda3. I don't know if this is normal or what but I don't even know what this part is. Anyone mind helping?

I have this same leak. I assume that's a VVT solenoid and the oil seal has gone bad? Did you ever fix it? I also seem to have another oil leak as well at 73k miles

That's not a leak. At worst it's seeping or sweating. Don't stress the small stuff.

I actually got this replaced soon after I noticed it. Covered under warranty. I might get this name wrong but I believe they said it was the oil control valve gasket or seal. Nothing wrong after they fixed it.

I was just quoted over $500 to replace the VVT solenoid and seal, which requires removing the valve cover obviously. I was surprised to hear it was the solenoid itself that was leaking, but I'm not sure I trust the dealership. I may try replacing just the seal myself and see if that fixes it.
