2015 3i sport 2.0L

I bought an oil filter cap from the dealership to help remove the Walmart 6607 filter on my 2nd oil change.
I used an OEM filter For the 3rd oil change.

Im doing my 4th oil change now and the cap is too big for the filter.
I had to use channel locks to remove it.
Then I tried the cap on the filter I'm going to use (Walmart 6607).
Cap Also too big.
WTF??

the cap fit perfectly on the oem and walmart filters a year ago.
now it doesn't on the same brand/model filters?

I've bought oil filters that vary in size on almost every vehicle that I've owned.

I recommend one of those flexible, 2 finger oil filter wrenches. It'll adjust to many different sizes. A 3/8" drive fits right into it.

I highly recommend the adjustable oil filter tool noted below. I've used it several times and it grips really well. It works far better than the strap type adjustables.

I cannot post links yet so search Amazon for Lisle 63600 Oil Filter Tool.

on the 2.5, i used an STP filter last time (S6607) - fit perfectly and with plenty of clearance to where i should never have to use a filter wrench - meaning there's enough clearance to get plenty of leverage by hand. Was happy to find out oil changes were going to be pretty hassle free on this car.
