So I know this is minor but checking the oil on my 2010 2.5 S, cannot tell the level of the oil on the dipstick.. I can tell there's oil there, that its not black yet, but have no idea if its low, it just shows up as a mess on the ford-sourced dipstick... anyone else notice this?? Is there a replacement part that shows the actual level?

if you let the car cool off a bit, dont start it, pull the dipstick and clean it, put it back in and pull it back out, you can get a clear oil level.

Yeah the 2.5 is tough to read. I used to pull it out clean it and lay it on the side. Come back 15 minutes later, dip it and it would read accurate. Funny because the MS3 doesn't do that.

I couldn't stand the engine oil dipstick when I bought my Mazda3 earlier this year. So I ordered a L3G6-10-450F Oil Gauge from the dealer. It has the hash marks, it's flat and easy to read :thumbup 1: It's funny Mazda went through two reversions on the engine oil dipstick since the 2010 came out. Best $16 bucks I spent on the car.

Yup, I find the dipstick annoying too. It's a little canoe on the end of a braided metal stick. The oil just puddles at the bottom of the canoe but the entire canoe is wet... so how to interpret?

The manual says the engine should be warm when checking the oil, but I get clearer results if I check a cold engine first thing in the morning.

Ha! I suppose Camry owners don't bother to check their oil anyway. :cheesy:

I do like the ones in old hondas -- a flat metal stick (or foil?) with two holes marking the low and high points.

I had stumbled on this thread and saw your post so I went and ordered this part # online and I was pissed when I got it and it had no cross hatch pattern on it. Was hoping this would have been an easy fix. Lol

I honestly can't use it. Need to find a new one somewhere in Canada because I can't even read it. Put 5L in and hoping it's fine cause that thing isn't reading shit.
