Hello all,
I have a 2010 Mazda3 with auto and manual trans.

Here's whats happening....

I started to go from a red light and the RPM's shot up coming out of first gear. It happened a few times then the AT light came on.
It was acting weird in auto trans so I switched to manual and it drove fine but strangely it was driving as an automatic IN MANUAL MODE.
I also lost reverse.

When I start out driving in manual it drives good and I shift just fine and the AT light doesn't come on.

I took it to a garage and they said the tranny needs a rebuild...$2200+

I was reading online about the transmission control module...could this be the trouble or do I really need a rebuild?

Mileage = 89,000+

Jeff - Did you ever figure this out? I've got a 2010 with 82k and the 2.5 with automatic. I'm curious about what's causing the problem.
