Hi there

I just bought a Mazda 3 2014 Skyactive (hatchback), the European version I assume since I'm located in Iceland. What a car!!!

I'm looking for a stealth subwoofer enclosure, something that can be attached to the side wall of the trunk, and not take up all the space like regular subwoofer boxes do.

Anyone know if this can be bought online?

I just saw a subwoofer enclosure for sale from Audio Integrations which might fit. I can't post a link (forum doesn't allow). But just google: "2010+ Mazda 3 Hatch 10 Inch Perfect Fit Subwoofer Enclosure"

The webpage claims that it should fit Mazda 3 2010+. Anyone know if that might apply for a 2014 European version?

regards
Frímann

I don't know if that would fit but it looks like a cool idea. If you want something that takes up minimal room you might consider a JL Microsub. Those have good reviews but are kind of expensive.

I'm just wondering. I have a 10" woofer. If I build a box in the spare tire compartment, will the sound be ok? I'm just wondering if the size of the woofer box makes allot of difference? At the moment I have a box that's way to big for the spare tire compartment. The box is sealed and I'm really happy with the sound. Would be a little bit of a bummer if I spend time building a box for the spare tire space, just to realise that the sound is s**t :)

Box size is quite important. You'd need to do some research on the particular sub you have to see the recommended box size range.
Generally the smaller the box, the higher frequency the sub will resonate at (so usually bigger boxes produce more low frequency bass.) You definitely don't want to build a box outside the recommended range by the sub manufacturer.

Removed this panel & had a custom fiberglass enclosure built for a 10" JL subwoofer. Have had it for 2 1/2 years now & it sounds great!

That looks awesome! And it seem to be not to small, at least from what I see. If I got the physics right, I'd assume that the the length of the box should help it resonance at a low frequency.

Can I ask how much I would expect to pay for that? Also I'm interested in knowing if the guys who made that would be willing to make another one...
