I have a 2.0 tuned by OrangeVirus, I'm on stock alloy 16 with 205/55/16 wheels. I have found wheels that are a similar weight but 18x8, my concern is how much the increase in wheel size will have an effect on acceleration etc. The new recommended size is 215/45/18 which is a 2.8% increase in diameter and I believe the added tire weight would be 2lb/wheel over my current setup.

Anyone have any idea how much I would notice this? I notice most people in the wheel/tire thread have the sGT from pictures so their weights are all going down a ton and size is nearly the same.

Would 215/40/18 cause any issues? The roads aren't really that bad in FL and I don't necessarily need an all season, I'm looking at DWS06 or Eextremecontact DW summers.

The largest difference is going to be increasing weight on the edge. Meaning a wheel spreads it weight over the entire diam... but a tire has all its weight on the outside.

So if your new tires weigh less than your old tires will actually be in a better spot.

All else being equal.

The wheels are within a few tenths of a pound at most while the tires look like I can keep at least the same weight rubber as stock. So if I can keep these numbers the same I'll have no gain or loss except for looks.
