Mazda infotainment website says there is a nav/maps update as of Feb. 1, 2018. I tried to update today but the Mazda Toolbox software says I'm up to date. My subscription is good for another 8 months. Has anyone else tried updating their maps in the last few days?

I figure I'll wait a few days and try again. I think this may not be the first time that they've updated the website before actually making the files available.

I emailed them on Friday - they said they are having problems posting the file the website, should be up in a few days.

I said they should have made the announcement after they knew the files were posted and worked as we get tired of logging into the toolbox app just to be told something is not available.

I checked again today. Still a no-go. Contacted support and got the same reply about a server problem. I'll try again next week.
Just updated mine now with the Feb. 2018 update. It took about 20 minutes for the update to download and then another 20 or so minutes for the install to complete on the SDCard. Now I get to check if they have finally updated my street (street was extended 3+ years ago and was not on the previous update so I have my doubts this one will have it either but will see later today).

How many times a year can you actually upgrade with the free 3-year subscription? Twice or as often as a card appears?
You can get new maps as often as they are released, which is about every 7 or 8 months on average (this will be my 4th map update in 2.5 years). I'm hoping for 1 more before my subscription ends in August.

Is it 3 years from build date or 3 years from when it is registered? How can you tell if the subscription is over? Car is a 2014 but I dont think original owner ever registered/updated the car (only had it for 8k miles). When I goto update it is saying the card is upto date, which I doubt since I have never updated it.

It's 3 years from when the nav system detects that the car has reached a total of 100km (or ~63 miles) total mileage. So if the card was installed from the beginning, then probably a few days after initial purchase. There should be a little line of text on the left side of the screen on Mazda Toolbox that tells you when it expires.

This is probably my last free update, since my subscription expiry is 06.16.2018. What are people doing when the map updates expire? Not worry about updates and drive with the last map? Buy a new three-year subscription? (Anyone know what that costs?) From what I have seen, buying a new OEM nav card costs more than buying a stand-alone GPS unit with lifetime updates. There are also nav cards on eBay that look like OEM and claim to have a three-year subscription for about $90 USD. Any thoughts on those?

I think a new 3 year subscription is about $135. You can see the prices in the Mazda Toolbox app. There's also an option to purchase a single map update, but I think it's more than half the cost of the 3-year sub.

I don't know about the eBay ones. I think most people who get those are folks who didn't get nav from the dealership, which means it's still their first card. What you're thinking of (and I'm thinking of too) is getting a second card and hoping it comes with a new subscription as well. But I don't know if it works like that, or if it will simply revert to the date of the first card. I know each card gets "locked" to the VIN of the car. Can anyone confirm what happens when you install a new, unused, second card?
