Hi everyone!

I just picked up my new mazda3 (second one I've owned) and I have run into a small issue while navigating.
I was driving to a destination with the nav on and the infotainment system randomly rebooted while on the highway, once it turned back on it rebooted again almost immediately. The same thing happened the next day I was driving to the same destination (I now knew the way, I was just testing the system). After the second time this happened I checked to see if there was a map update that might help solve the issue, there was an update and I went ahead with it.....today I tested again while driving to the same destination and it rebooted twice again, in the same spot everytime.

I was wondering if anyone was having any weird issues with the nav like this, the car is a 2017 mazda3 Sport GT with the Premium package, I never had issues like this on my old mazda3 (2014 sport GS).

The OS firmware version is 59.00.441 NA N
Fail-Safe version is 59.00.441

I'm thinking this is an isolated bug but if anyone has any comments/suggestions it would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Navi or SDCARD will never cause issue of reboot, or screen go black. if there issue with nav will at least freeze or just in loading circle.

did your distention Military base with high RF Antenna??. if so then the reboot happen exactly at same point of your first and second drive test.... if this case.NO-- .
make factory reset and check, if this not help.. go to dealer ..

No military bases near the route not sure about high powered RF antenna, weird thing is that the system did not crash going the opposite direction...only crashes on the route from A to B but does not crash from B to A. Which is why I thought the issue might be with the system crashing based on the route it was trying to provide me and not the physical location of the car.

I will try a factory reset, though I won't be able to test to see if it works as I won't be going to that destination for a few weeks!

its really strange. please tell us the result..
one things more.. if you go to that destination again , delete the route from your nav and make new route calculation to the route from A-B , because your calculation from B-A work fine, so the RF signal i mentioned wasn't a reason even if it exist .

Thanks for the troubleshooting ideas!

I'll try and remember to update here if it gets resolved/happens again. I only have to go to this destination every so often for work so it could be a couple weeks!

I wonder if there is anyone else from Toronto on here that has had a similar issue as me while driving on the 401!

Update:

Factory reset infotainment system.

Traveled to the same destination again using nav, set the actual destination as somewhere down the street, the whole infotainment system crashed and rebooted twice along the way at the same place as before going from A to B. Tried using nav again on the way from B to A, did not crash.

Next day traveled from A to B without using nav and it did not crash! So far 100% of the time it crashes twice at the exact location only while navigating going from A to B but not vice-versa and not when the nav system is navigating. Since the nav system is always on while driving (showing upcoming streets etc) it would appear that the issue has something to do with the route.

Sounds like I need to take a trip to my local dealership, except they won't be able to replicate the issue unless I take them on a trip along the same route...I have navigated to many other places since the issue first appeared and this is the only route that the system crashes on, and it crashes at the same spot 100% of the time on the route...

It originally crashed on the version that was on it when I got the car in the middle of February, so I updated on Feb 18, Naviextras said this was the newest version, crashes on this version too. Not sure what version # it is at the moment, I'll have to check later in the day.

If I recall correctly it crashes on the 401 in Toronto around Weston Rd. I'll use navigation again tomorrow and see if I can get the exact location when it crashes.

I have a 2014 sGT and I have never experienced this. I'll be heading to Kitchener from Toronto next week. I'll set a route on my GPS and see if this happens and I"ll update you. btw, I have the most recent update for the maps too.

If you find your system rebooting once in a while, especially near airports or large microwave towers, it is most likely strong electromagnetic interference that is disrupting the system. Airport radar or similar. My Mio C230 GPS unit was really bad in that regards due to very poor shielding. Mazda has admitted to poor shielding in the North American models, and that is the main reason why WiFi had to be disabled.

Hmm interesting, however I don't think that is the issue. Because it does not crash the system going in the other direction at the exact same spot. Also it does not crash it when I get closer to the airport, my destination is right beside the airport and it seems to only crash at one specific spot on the route.
Also my 2014 Mazda3 did not crash going the exact same route 2 days before I get this one while navigating.

If it was magnetic interference don't you think it would crash when I navigate from B to A as well as when going from A to B?

Thanks, let me know if you encounter the issue!
It only crashes when I'm going west on the 401. Part of the route is from the 404 and the final destination is the International centre.

i just made simulation on both side north to south, and east to west on 401 the map are complete and no cut at it in code ( Mazda map NNG 2015 Q2 ) this issue we should know the reason.
That is very cool, could be a faulty SD card?
Maybe I'll take a trip to my local dealer and see if they have anything to say about the issue.

Thanks!

you did update before.. it will worth if you make clone second SDCARD with nav tool. or just copy paste from yours backup it could be also one sector bad at SDCARD.. so or so you need to make copy to your card to be in safe . 6GB one enough to NA
