Has anyone here been successful in getting the myTouch 3G (HTC Magic) to stream audio via Bluetooth? I have successfully paired the phone and can send/receive calls; however, I get no audio when playing MP3s. When paired, I do see both the phone and audio icons on the in-dash display.

Thanks,

I have the G1 (same software) and have the same situation as you. BT audio shows up, phone calls work but no audio comes out. Whats weird is the phone thinks it is (i think) because it mutes the internal speaker, but nothing comes out of the car. Granted i have my zune 120gb for music, i still think it would be neat for the music to come over the speakers. Also i would like to have my text message/email tones emit over the speakers too.

phoenix down this thread!

just got the phone and have the same problem as you guys... which is a problem, since i used my old phone's bt audio as my way of getting my tunes in the car, while still being able to use the steering wheel controls. i'm gonna look into it; i'll report back whatever i can find out. hopefully there's some kinda fix out there and the problem doesn't lay with android itself.

http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayPage.action?pageParameter=bluetoothHandsFreeSystem&bhcp=1

Did the search on MazdaUSA's bluetooth option and I don't see anything on the Magic.. IDK what phone that is. But as for the G1, it is approved for Bluetooth calling but NOT bluetooth audio, check the link.

Go to Find a phone, put in the car info and then search by device make (HTC) etc. and it will give you a list of approved/not approved phones and if they can handle bluetooth audio.. you can also click on the phone to get a more detailed description of what the capabilities are for the phone.

I've been trying work arounds since day 1 of my Mazda3 2010. Ive had the G1 at first and now i have the mytouch 3g. I have set it up to transmit via blueooth with a2dp and Ive rooted my phone, sim unlocked it, everything you name it and I've done it or attempted it. The problem I think lies within the Mazda3 somehow because I can stream my music via my friends lexus so I'm trying to figure out a solution still.

For anyone that wants to try to stream bluetooth, try this app its called SoundRouteSwitcher, basically what it does is lets you select stream via bluetooth audio on your phone. I doubt it'll work but its worth a try.

Nexus One -- no love

I've got a Mazdaspeed 3 2010 and a Nexus One. I get the music icon on the dash, but when I go into BT Audio (press Aux a second time), it comes up blank.

Any ideas? Any chance I loaded it wrong?

i think there's just something retarded with the android's A2DP and mazda's receiver... more likely something on mazda's end since people've reported it working in other cars. very curious how it doesn't even work with the nexus one though... they were supposed to've reworked the bluetooth profiles on android 2.0.

as far as the mytouch, i've tried hero roms, 2.0 roms, nexus one roms, cyanogenmod roms, and just plain rooted; all to no avail. i gave up and went back to using my ipod touch, even though i can't change tracks with the steering wheel...

Found something - Kinda works

This morning I decided to plug in the headphone jack to AUX and discovered something. When I hit play on the nexus one, it started to play and then the audio died but the nexus one was still playing. After a minute of fiddling with it, I unplugged the headphone jack and switched the stereo to BT Audio and I got music!

It turns out, you can play music across BT Audio but the stereo has no ability to control the nexus one. You have to run everything from the nexus one. No music name display or anything -- basically just like AUX without the cable.

It is worth noting that once the stereo detects the nexus one as BT audio capable, the nexus one will use the BT Audio link to play the music and will not output on the headphone jack.

Kohai

UPDATE: I discovered today that the song skip on the steering wheel works too. I had the first nexus one software update this morning -- not sure if that caused it to work. I need a longer commute to play with all the toys in this car.

Nice find, I can tell you my brother-in-law has an HTC Hero and we were not able to get it working in my car but my iPhone linked right up and streamed no problem. Weirdness.

I have the Motorola Cliq, and my bluetooth audio works. I did the same thing that Kohai did- plugged my Cliq into the Aux cable (because i didn't know about BT audio) and it started playing, but when I unplugged teh phone, it was still playing. Now anytime I select the music on my phone, it automatically goes through my speakers, but I have to push the Aux button twice to select BT audio. I can adjust volume and skip tracks on wheel and head unit, but it doesn't tell you artist/song information. oh, and I am still on Android 1.5, lol.

FYI t-mobile users ;~) Rest assure, the new Motorola Cliq XT works perfectly with the in car blue tooth PLUS it will play the mp3's you have stored on your phone. neat!

The myTouch3g can stream audio to the stereo in the Mazdaspeed 3 if you get the upgrade from 1.6 to something later. T-Mobile are rolling out their 2.2 OTA update so you can wait until you get it OTA or root your phone and install something like Cyanogen mod yourself.

I installed Cyanogen mod for Android 2.2 and was surprised (because I had given up on trying to get this to work) that the streaming audio now works great with my MS3. You can even press the pause/play, previous and next track controls and it controls the phone as you'd expect. Very pleased!

I've been using my Nexus One, Android 2.2, on my 2010 MZ3 and it works perfectly. It even starts automatically when I turn on the car using this music player. Version 2.2 of Android improved the compatibility matrix with car kits and headsets according to the new feature set. MyTouch G3 and Tmobile G1 are Android 1.6 devices, that being said, you can mod them to 2.2 and bluetooth audio streaming will work. I have a G1 that I no longer use, I installed the cyanogenmod for the HTC G1(Dream) and just tested it out and works as expected.
