I have a 07 Mazda 3i with a rebuilt 2.0-liter engine in it. Don't get me wrong, I love hp, but I love torque more. Is there anything I can do to get more torque out of this small engine?

Hmmm might be able to remap the ecm for more torque, but at a hit to economy. Could do a turbo but want to make sure your lower end can handle it. Small NA engines are more for horsepower than torque. Another expensive and invasive thing would be to rebuild into a stroker motor. Buuuuut like the remap might rob some horsepower

Hey Dan, it depends how far you want to go. Changing exhaust cam, headers, and cat all give decent bump in torque. The 2.0 L series block can fit the 2.3 L3 head or equivalent ford duratec which helps too. A stroker kit is the best way through, from factory the sp23 L3 engine is basically a stroked 2.0 which has better torque.

Easiest results
Go with a lighter flywheel and stage 1 clutch like ACT.
It wont add but will deliver what you have faster ...less time to spool up the OEM flywheel (40lbs)
vs a 12lbs or lighter flywheel.
Increasing HP overall will increase torque, with a stage 2 cam, headers, flowing head, high flow exhaust and remapping ecu... and adding a supercharger or going the ITB route. But you get torque loss below 3k rpm.
You can also lose weight and increase the power weight ratio.
