Does anyone know what the differences are between the Mexico and Japan built hub bearings? Was looking to replace my fronts with Moog but all I can find for the front is for Japan built vehicles. (2014 i grand touring)
Thanks!

They aren't sold individually by Mazda.

Sorry I didn’t explain that well. I meant the entire hub like the ones you posted in the link. Do you know any actual differences in the hubs themselves? Are they interchangeable? Thanks for the help!

Gave it some thought.. probably not interchangeable.

There are tons of different parts between the Mex and Japanese models that are connected to the hub.

Axles, brake calipers, rotors, brake pads, wheel studs, ABS.. all different parts numbers.

Reviving an older thread but I am in a similar position to the OP.
From my research on Mexico build front wheel bearings the Centric website lists the Centric part 40145001 as fitting both the 2016 Mexico Build Mazda3 in addition to the Mazda6 and CX-5, but, for some reason, that Centric part is not listed on rockauto as fitting the 2016 Mexico Build Mazda3.
Anyway, using the logic that the 2016 Mexico Build Mazda3 front wheel hub bearing is interchangeable with the 2016 Mazda6 and CX-5, I am making a huge assumption that the front wheel bearings listed on rockauto for the 2016 Mazda6 or CX-5 might fit the 2016 Mexico build Mazda3.
I have not tested this yet so was wondering if anyone knew whether the MOOG-513347 front wheel bearing, or MEVOTECH MB76306, or BCA WE61794, or TIMKEN HA590493, or WJB WA513347 fit the 2016 Mexico Build Mazda3 and not just the Mazda 6 and CX-5.

Sorry I can’t answer your question, I haven’t got around to doing it yet. CK said the axles were different so I assumed they wouldn’t work. Not sure if they’re splined different or what but if I get back to it and find out for sure I’ll let you know.

After more research it does look like the 2016 Mazda3 Mexico build and Mazda6 and CX-5 front hubs all have 31 splines and appear interchangeable, whereas the 2016 Mazda3 Japan build has 28 splines.

Hey All,

Going through wheel bearing replacements and overhauling the entire front end on my Mexican built 2014 Mazda 3 GS (control arms /w ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links, struts, wheel bearings...the works). 186,000 kms... the only maintenance I've done prior to this was a set of brakes at 85k and a rear wheel bearing around the same time... so all in all, very happy with the reliability (after the coolant concentration recall).

Anyways, I ordered the Centric 401.45001 bearing to replace it as PartsAvatar said that it would fit. Turns out, they were wrong. The Centric 401.45001 is equipped with 31 splines, whereas my OEM bearing that I pulled out has 28. Evidently Centric also makes a 401.45004 that is a 28 spline hub assembly that is made for the sport trim (which mine isn't).

Interesting to note that Rock Auto doesn't indicate any difference in CV axle for japan vs mexico, but the corresponding wheel bearings are different (presumably because of the axle diameter / spline count).

Anyways, I wanted share what I found today. I'd recommend popping the axle nut and counting the splines on your wheel hub before going ahead and ordering them. 45001 = 31 splines, 45004 = 28 splines.

Good Luck!

Very interesting and good to know. I thought I had it all figured out but obviously not.
I thought that only the very base model and GX were Mexico built and GS and above were Japan build.
So I'm assuming that you went back and bought the 45004 and it fit?
I actually called Moog technical service after my last post and they confused me by insisting that there wasn't a difference in front bearings or spline counts for the Mexico vs Japan build. That's why, like you said, count the splines before ordering.

Where did you buy them from?
