Hello all.... I'm new to this, so please bear with me. I bought a 2011 Mazda 3 Hatchback that was in an accident. Nothing major just a little body damage. I purchased a hood and put it on, and there is a 1 inch gap on both the left and right sides of the fenders (note passenger side fender is new, but also does not fit quite right). New and old hoods measure the same.... here's the kicker. My old hood is a genuine Mazda hood stamped with part number BBM4 52341. I called Mazda, they have no record of any such hood part number. I even placed the old fender on, still a 1 inch gap on both sides. What am I a doing wrong here?

Are you sure on that hood part number, a quick google suggests it should be BBY45231XC.

How minor was the accident? a 1 inch gap either side is huge.

is the gap even down the full sides on each side ?

What is the fender to door gap like ?

maybe put up a few pics so people can see the issue.
