I have a 2009 Mazda 3 S Hatchback. in about 30-50 thousand miles I am planning on swapping a 1st gen ms3 engine and tranny into my 3. What parts are interchangeable and what are things that arent.
So far on my list that i will need
-engine
-transmission
-engine accessories (coolant res., alternator, starter etc)
- ECU
Im wondering if the wiring harness is the same or if i need a new one of those. Also is the center console different for the manual transmission?

The firewall is different, so you’re probably gonna have clearance issues.Why not just turbo your existing engine?

because i want the manual transmission and the ability to actually modify my car as a speed 3 as i cant find any after market engine parts for the mazda 3. i was also planning on custom fabricating the firewall or at least trimming for clearance.

Easiest way to do this.. buy a beater ms3 and start swapping parts..

I'd say the easiest way is to just trade into a speed3, there aren't a ton of differences between the cars outside the powertrain but there are enough that it would be VERY time consuming to swap a regular Mazda3 into a speed3... not to mention there are just some parts you aren't going to be able to find like a quick search for swaybars literally only lists 1 or 2 used ones and at that point how do you know what you're getting is even a real mazdaspeed swaybar?
