I recently purchased a Mazda 3 Diesel 2.2 Sport Nav but the Front Parking Sensors appear inconsistent in their operation. If I enter a parking space going forward, most of the time the parking sensors do not activate automatically. I say most of the time as on a few occasions they have worked - Mazda dealership say that this is how they are meant to be i.e. you have to turn them on manually. when going forward into a space. However the front parking sensors do get activated when the car is put into reverse (which seems a bit strange as I may have already hit something going forward!). Can anyone confirm if this is how they are on their car? Many Thanks

the dealer answer not complete..front parking sensor working right now depending on speed or when you park car backward and then need forward to adjust the parking, when you go in forward parking and your speed higher ales the sensor setting, they will be mute. this future designed for auto self parking.

Front parking sensors will not be activated until you press the sensor button (while the speed is less than 10 km/h (6 mph)) next to the seat heater or you select reverse gear. Once they're activated, they will operate until you manually disable them with the button or when the vehicle is driven at a speed of about 10 km/h (6 mph) or more.

That's the button for pre-facelift models (2013-2016):

That's the button for facelift models (2017-):

Follow this procedure, I did it and worked automatically (I had the front parking sensors installed on my mazda 2 2016, at the beginning they worked automatically, then I messed up trying to adjusting the volume and I had to press the button in order to activate them; finally I found this guide and worked again)

I haven't tried that guide but it seems it's for cx3 or mazda 2. They're basically using the same hardwares. I doubt that will work for mazda 3 but thanks anyway.

Interesting, my Mazda 3 doesn't have parking sensors, guess its a new thing?

I installed ALP parking sensors that serve a few purposes. They work well and even elevate the tone as you get closer and they are always on at any speed.
