Newbie here!! So I got a 2014 Mazda 2L hybrid with 50,000 km on it last week and since then I've been learning about the car and it's been so great!! The owner and maintenance manuals are in Japaneese so it's a bit of a task to use Google Lens on every page, but I'm making progress learning about this beauty.

Now, what I found out was that the previous owner had not bothered to update the CMU firmware from the dealer and it is at 33.00.700

Now, I've found the update package for 70.00.100A (cmu150_ADR_70.00.100A) and 70.00.367A (cmu150_ADR_70.00.367A_update) (I'm in Sri Lanka; South Asia) and I'm wondering if this should work fine for a hybrid car. All resources online (that I could find) was for the fully gasoline versions of cars with no mention of the hybrid.

My end goal here is to get Android Auto working so I'm trying to get the firmware uptodate first without taking my car to the dealer.

Anyone here with a similar experience updating the infortainment system of a Mazda 3 Hybrid?

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks!

I doubt, that if FW 33 works with hybrid, that higher/newer versions would not.
Remember to install 70.00.100 first/inbetween, before you update to a higher FW version.
You plan to install the official Android Auto/Apple Carplay with the new usb hub+2 new cables, right?

Hi @Tristan-cx5 thanks for the reply.

I was able to sucessfully update the firmware to 70.00.100A and then to 70.00.367A in that order. Everything seems to work just fine including the hybrid specific applications it previously had. Also, I now have English (and a bunch of other languages to choose from) as the infortainment language (which I'm very happy about)

Yes, that is the plan. I am planning on odering this from AliExpress since it's much more convienient to ship to Sri Lanka when compared to Ebay. Hope this is the exact part I should be getting. (I need to research more into the HW aspects of the upgrade tbh).

This should be the correct kit. But there were reports about some (not all) kits from aliexpress not working properly - keep that in mind, if it is not working after you installed it. Genuine parts from the Mazda dealer were not reported to have this issue.

Thanks! I ordered the part and it should take a couple months to arrive. I'll update the thread once the installation is completed.

On a different note, do I need to use the "mzd-aio-tweaks" software to enable Android Auto once the usb hub and all is fixed in or does it come enabled by default with the 70.00.367A firmware and the infortainment systems detects the compatible USB hub and shows Android Auto?
