Most of the 18's I've found are heavier than stock. To get lighter, you'd have to look at racing wheels.

A wheel similar to that look are the BBS SX's, which I plan on buying.

Ok... so I've been looking around and have come up with some possible alternatives.

(Although this one is just a Hyper Black so a bit off)

I've looked up the specs on each one and noted their Offset, bore, and weight. In addition, I've been using a site Will They Fit that lets you compare.

My only real question now is how much wiggle room do we have on both sides of the tires (suspension vs Fender). With all the Wheels I looked at, the worse spread of size + offset, has them moving closer to the suspension by 0.22" and closer to the fender by 0.893.

Obviously I don't want to rub on anything and really don't plan on rolling any fenders.

How are we solving our need for 18" black chrome wheels?

Please picture the following but being powder-coated, in black chrome as our winter wheels. Yes, they are familiar, for these are the good-looking, in our opinion, 18" Mazda wheels that come with our car. [We are separately getting, for 25% of list, Mazda's 18" dark alloy accessory wheels for our summer wheel/tire set.]

The "Ultra Black Chrome" powder coating will be a several stage process, starting with a metallic silver base, then Prismatic Powder's "Ultra Black Chrome," then clear coated. We have received samples of their three black chrome color options, and love this exact color -- best described as a glossy, medium-gray/light charcoal black chrome. Our final winter winter set will be these black chrome, powder-coated Mazda 18" wheels with Nokian Hakkapelliita 8 studded snow tires; the winter set will weigh exactly the same as 18" Mazda factory summer tire/wheel set.

As to the question of what will the powder coating cost raised in an earlier thread, we just received our $350 cost quote. We especially like our winter wheels being powder coated to 10+ times better resist sand, salt and rock chipping than does any paint.

For me to send out my stock wheels and get them power coated to "Black Chrome" it would have cost me $800 plus not having any wheels for 2-3 weeks. So instead, I went with the XXR's that cost me $550 and are 6 lbs lighter than Stock and no down time.

Now I can sell my stock 18" and recoupe some of that money has well.

@da_jokker, that a good/smart plan that's going to work well for you.

Since I am changing tires anyway, no extra costs there, and my powder coater's price (they are a short drive away) includes only 48 hours time from drop off to my picking them up; during that time, I will be painting my calipers.

I see three sets of XXR's above. Which one are you going with please?

I ended up with the 530s. For me the real deciding factor was that most manufacturers actually stopped making all of their black chrome versions. Black Friday weekend I got a sale on these 530s and I literally didn't think they were going to show up.

Every website I found that had any black chromes, I would call them and personally ask them if they had them in stock...their response was always... oh yeah they don't make those anymore. Very frustrating.
