Hello everyone. My wife and I just purchased a used 2010 Mazda MAZDA3 i with 56k miles and are in absolute love with it. This is our first "new" (ish) car and we are very excited to make sure it is well taken care of. Lots of Google searches for various information on the MAZDA3 i directed me here, and I'm glad I will have so many personal experiences to base any service or modification on.

Looking forward to a fantastic number of years with this beauty; see you in the forums!

Just one picture so far; it's at dusk, too, so its true beauty is hidden just a bit.. ;P

The only thing I'm 100% sure I plan on doing is getting window tint as dark as legally possible; Missouri summers are hot and I'd like to keep any heat I can sealed in during the winter! After that I'll hopefully start getting into some real modifications. :) Since we're making payments on it, I think my ideal first modification will be something that increases gas mileage; any recommendation you fine folks might have are welcome!

Definitely get tint. Our cars look so naked without it haha. I got 35% in the front and 20% in the back. PA allows no tint, so I'm taking my chances haha.

welcome! you'll love your new mazda for a long time. 2.0 engine i'm guessing?
Yep! We upgraded from a 99 Ford Escort with 186k miles on it, so even though I've read around that some eople consider it slow, it sure feels zippy to me! :p

The easiest thing I can recommend is to pump up the tires to 38psi (and get light wheels, as recommended above). Mileage will typically increase as the engine is broken in.

Welcome man! good to see more people jumping on board.

People that think our car is slow should take it to the canyons and get back to me, its all relative....you probably wouldn't be out running mustangs, but compared to 80% of the cars on the road, the 3 will out preform if you step on the gas a little.

Welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place. Congrats on the new to you car! I usually suggest making sure all of the maintenance is up to date, then go for performance parts. :) If you'd like to increase your mileage, check out an intake and/or exhaust.

Yeah, as it is a used car maintenance was our first concern.. luckily the rental company that previously owned it kept said records, and the Carfax came back clean. I'm going to be taking it to my uncle in Kansas City as soon as I find the time, but we feel like we stumbled onto a dream come true with this car. :)

Thank you for all your suggestions guys; we'll definitely be getting some lighter tires when the time comes (they have 4 brand new Yokohama's on there right now, so I'm not in any rush to get new shoes) and I'll be looking into a cold air intake/exhaust upgrade.

It's nice to have a car that makes me smile when I look at it! :p
