Is this the primer or actual body of the car?

Hi guys,

This is a picture of damage similar to my car, where I can see "white" instead of my car's paint color. I wanted to know if this is the primer coat, or the bare body of the car, so I can pay special attention to it during the winter months here in Toronto, Ontario. I unfortunately do not want to get repair work done since getting it done by a nice body shop that can guarantee no orange peeling would cost over a grand.

The person who posted the original picture was in the same scenario as me, where that portion of the car rubbed against a damned curb. I just want to know if I need to treat that area so it doesn't rust.

Why don't you just do a simple anti-rust etc. repair yourself regardless. It's low enough and out of sight enough that most people wouldn't notice, it would be cheap, and you wouldn't have to do an incredible job.
I wouldn't know what I would need for that, I'm really unfamiliar with repair and preventative methods and techniques. But if you could guide me in the right direction, I could get a friend to help me out with it.

Many thanks M3R.

Oh really? It's the portion of the car right underneath the doors. I can get a better picture for you if you'd like? It's the rocker panel portion of the car if I'm using the correct wording.

Like Spencer mentioned, I would do the touch up repair yourself, or have a friend help you out since it is in an inconspicuous location. Find a colour matched paint (code is on your door jamb) online or from the dealer and spray over it. Even a rush job will look better than what you have now haha.

I actually have the Aluminum Silver colour Mazda3 2014, so the white curb rash/scratches blend it with it more or less. If the rocker panel portion of the car is truly plastic, then I wouldn't need to worry about it rusting. But how would I confirm if it's plastic?

Do you have a source for this information? From my basic science knowledge, steel does not rust, correct? But for example, if the same sort of deep scratches were on the fender, it would rust over time?
