Do I need to buy the iPod integration unit if I also have the Bose package, so that the ipod works perfectly from the steering wheel buttons? I haven't quite bought the 2013 Mazda3 yet. Thx for any help.

No need for extra ipod integration. All ready has usb in the center console. Just need ipod usb cable which im sure u have. Once plugged in, the ipod can be controlled on the steering wheel, or the nav touch screen depending on the trim level you choose
