Has anyone tried this? or even consider it? A friend of mine just put one in his 2013 F150. I never thought of it before. Then spent a couple hours researching it online last night. There's a shop in CA that does it all the time. But for $1200 just in labor.

Not an ipad but someone just installed a galaxy nexus tablet as their head unit. Looks good. Lost the radio and cd player though. And it was way way cheaper than 1200

Serious question, and I'm not that up on things lately, but why would you go this route instead of say an Avic-D3?
