Hi all-

I hate looking at my phone while in the car, and I can't stand cables, so I wanted a way to get everything out of sight. I installed a wireless phone charger in the center console of my 2015 3 hatch. I'll post a photo later if I get time. Here are the products I used:

1. Two port USB adapter: [ame]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HH52Q5W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1[/ame]
2. Three-coil charging pad: [ame]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HVT1ZQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1[/ame]
3. Right-angle USB cord: [ame]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N52OUPD/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1[/ame]

The USB adapter has a 2nd port with fast charging if I need it, or if someone else is in the car with a 2nd device. The pad fits nicely into the little shelf at the top of the console. The 3 coils are nice, because I don't have to get the phone perfectly centered to get a good charge. The right angle cable keeps things neat. I managed to catch some of the items on sale, so the whole setup was about $30 and took 2 minutes to install. Now everything is out of sight and I'm not tempted to pick up my phone and text or do anything stupid while I'm driving.

My only concern is the current draw of the adapter and pad while not in use, since the outlet in the 3 is always on, rather than switched with the start/stop. But I drive every day, so I'm not too worried that it will cause a significant drain. If I ever go on vacation for a week or so, I'd probably just unplug it.

Nice!!
Do you have a picture of the set up?
Here are the photos.

Photo 1: The adapter and right angle USB cable are low profile. The second USB port is capable of fast charging.

Photo 2: The cable came with a velcro loop to help keep it tucked away.

Photo 3: Charging pad in the tray with 90-degree cable tucked toward the back and underneath.

Note that the USB cable is 90-degrees on both ends, which really helps to keep it neat and out of the way.

Nice. Out of curiosity, what are the charge times?

I'm not sure. I just put it in yesterday, and my regular commute is only about 20 minutes, so I haven't tracked it over a long period yet. Maybe about 1% per minute. It's not a "fast" wireless charger, so probably about 5V 1A average. I wasn't really looking for the fastest, but rather something that would fit in the tray. Also, the red one looks cool.
