As many said before, in USA the dealers still replace these units for free. They just replaced mine in a 2016 Mazda 3 I bought used with 90k miles. No questions asked.

However, if Mazda for any reason does not replace it free, you can buy a used display for $150 online and replace it yourself in 15 minutes. As simple as replacing a stereo unit.

I'm guessing you didn't read thread, Mazda extended to 7 years their warranty on screens, I'm attaching Special Service Program B6. With respect of your Bluetooth connectivity you need to update firmware, version 70.00.100NA fix many of those issues.
Thanks. I see this only applies to Mazda3 up to 2016. I have a 2017 Madza6 Touring. Also, I am interested in the post from the person who stated the displays are replaced free in the USA. How can I get more information on that?

Here you go: http://nots.mazdatweaks.win
unzip to blank FAT32 formatted USB Drive and connect to car USB port

This will completely disable the touchscreen all the time.
To re-enable the touchscreen you just run this same installer again, it will detect whether the screen is disabled or enabled and do the opposite.

You are welcome.
The link to this tweak is not working, and also the one in the downloads of AIO is not working

@Jonathan K : When it was available I downloaded the file. I posted it here somewhere in the form already. As you can not upload ZIP files, I had to add ".pdf" to the name of the file. See the file in the attachment... download it and rename it and delete ".pdf" from the name. Then it is the ZIP file again, which you are looking for.

Hello Tristan, correct me if I'm wrong, but this tweak are not reversible? If you install it you can't enable the touchscreen again? I'm on 59.00.502 with ID7 recovery installed. There is any way to enable the touch again once installed the script?

I did a fast check of the tweaks.sh and it's seems like it's not compatible with 59.00.502 because it was made when this Fw was not compatible with USB audio mod... But now with ID7 it's another history.

Hey Guys,

I'm not sure if this was mentioned before because this thread is kinda long. I have had this issue as well and unfortunately my vehicle is imported and not bought by the local dealer therefore they are not replacing my screen.
After research, I found that if you take out the head unit (which is crazy simple to do), you can disconnect a ribbon cable under the screen. This cable disconnects the digitizer behind the screen and therefore all touch abilities will be disconnected.

This will be for those who don't want to spend the money on a new screen and wants a guaranteed working solution. You still have control over the system via voice and the center controls.

I resorted to this as I don't want to buy a screen yet but the ghost touches were very annoying.

This is the video I found on YouTube that helped me.

You dont need to remove the entire back plate as he did as you can see the ribbon cable as soon as you take off the screen.

Hope this helps someone

Has anyone with a 2017 Mazda been successful in getting the dealer to replace the screen at no cost?
It seems absolutely arbitrary that they would cut off the extended warranty service for these failing units knowing that future model years (especially one the very next model year) are also experiencing this issue.
I'm going to be calling Mazda corporate and be that annoying customer.
Will report back later.

Happy to see this thread!

My girlfriend has a 2016 Mazda 3. Several months ago, started getting sporadic backup camera issues - put the car in reverse and the screen would just go black. When the problem first started, doing the manual reset (hold Mute/Nav/Back) would make it go away for a few weeks. But about 2 weeks ago, it started happening much more frequently.

And last week it started doing the ghost touch thing people are describing here.

She should be covered by the warranty extension, but do you all know if replacing the screen via the extended warranty will also solve the camera issue? Or are these likely two separate issues?

Firmware is 55.00.753, so is the camera issue likely due to old firmware?

I have a 2014 Mazda 3 sedan which presented this issue. I took a video of the infotainment ghost working at its best and took the car in for diagnosis at the same time as my last service this week. Melbourne city Mazda has the touch screen unit replaced for me under warranty... no extra costs.... and my car is 2 years out of its 3 year warranty. No arguements from the dealer or Mazda themselves to get it approved/done. Was really happy that I didn’t have to have a fight with them to get it fixed for free.

For anyone in Melbourne who has this issue, I recommend Melbourne City Mazda to get it repaired for free. Take in a vid of the ghost at work. They have seen this issue a few times now and just do replacements. :)
Hi Amie17, were you still within your warranty period when they replaced it?

Any luck with this? I have a 2017 Mazda as well but when I called the dealer they said they wouldn’t replace for free

Supposedly it was fixed in 2017+ as they had a different (but similar) unit, different part number.
If this issue is also starting to effect those as well I’m guessing it will have to go through the whole process again before getting a recall.

i had the issue on a 2015 before the recall came out and Mazda was fighting me tooth and nail since I bought the car certified pre-owned. After multiple dealer visits they suddenly decided to replace it free and the official recall came out shorty after, so I’m thinking I got lucky there.

just document your issue, dealer visits and keep receipts. Hope for a recall and get reimbursed.

@jmart12 Go to dealer and request to perform screen test as per TSB. If they don't want to help escalate to corporate, cry loyalty. Other things you can do are detailed in this thread but I want to add another solution, I've seen a replacement 7" screen digitizer for as low as $20 shipped at Aliexpress also on Ebay can be found.

I have a 2014 Mazda 3 and had the same issue for ages. I'm obviously out of warranty hence been delaying fixing the problem.

I'm biting the bullet but after some advice of the best option. Has anybody bought a new monitor and installed it themselves? If so which monitor do you purchase?

I'm also open to disabling the touch function but I'm not that tech savy and would prefer to pull the unit out fix it that way. Is this a relatively simple option?

Any help is much appreciated.

P.s. I continue to look through the thread for my answers once I get a free moment.

Touch substrate gets corrosion then you get the phantom touch. So frustrating. Took 5 years for my screen to start doing this. I ended up pulling the ribbon cable from the factory screen and used all options from control nob for a year, then I bought a Belsee BM313 android head end unit. It interfaces with factory unit and retains all factory settings. I have the tech package, so it was important to keep factory settings.
I just bought a Belsee android head unit for my Mazda 6. No instructions with it. How did you get yours to interface with the factory unit? Is there a way to switch between the two? Thanks!

Yes, I couldn't get help either. I have it integrated now. the long 3.5 lead literally plugs in to the aux jack of the center console. You MUST install a groud loop isolator in line or you will get lots of hum from the unit. You can switch to fatory by swiping left on the bottom on android screen. Backup camera was also left separate, I just have to hit the star button to go to facfory (mine id patched with AIO tweaks)

I have my rear and front cameras, waze (split screen) screen mirroring, odb and race guages all in display. I'll put up a video later to see how its integrated fully using factory and all oem controls with a full android system sitting on top. Not perfect, but better than I've seen on most Mazda's.

Wow I've been dealing with this intermittently for ages, I assumed it was because my software needed updating to work nicely with Android Auto or newer Bluetooth versions. Amazing to find the solutions have been sitting right here all along! I'll try the disconnecting ribbon method since I have never once wanted to use the touch screen controls.
