Hey guys, so I finally did it. Took me 9 hours from start to finish to complete 2 amps under seats, 4 speakers and 4 tweeters, 4 gauge power wire and ground. A power block and ground dist, and the touch screen head unit, oh and the 12" sub in the back. Ill post pics eventually, I was cold and wanted it to b over lol.

Now my question is, everything worked perfectly EXCEPT for the illumination wire on the head unit. I know the metra kit doesn't come with the pin for it so as I did with my other mazda before non bose, tapped into the orange wire on the car side of harness and worked, well the bose apparently has it somewhere else and it didn't work.

Does anyone know which wire on the car radio harness side is for the illumination, so my head unit changes when headlights come off, it's only one wire, I'm guessing 12+V when the headlights come on. When I install the aswc axxess I will be fixing this, hopefully u guys know the answer to this. BOSE SYSTEM 2012 plz.

Hey guys idk I tapped into that wire that's on your pic, and it didn't do anything. So I tapped into another one and nothing again, so I went online and found this mind u it's the only diagram that shows it there. The illumination +is at the very end of the connector. Can anyone confirm this? I had to tap into 2 wires and didn't go.

All I know there is a wire for a dimmer and one for illumination when you turn the parking lights. If you can't decipher the color it is fuse number 34 for dashboard illumination in the fuse box.

And I got a semi-chub for you calling me sweetheart.

Ok I'm going to be that guy and bump an old thread. I have a 2015 Mazda3 with the garbage bose system. Currently doing a "bosectomy" on it and replacing everything. Pioneer headunit, alpine amps, speakers, ect.
I can not figure out the illumination wire at all. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help you have!!!!!!!!

There's an illumination Joint Connector (mult) in the same area, choose any of the Yellow + Gray - and tap it there, wire colors maybe different in your car but be careful no shorts or you may cook the FMBC module there isn't any fuse between JC and module.
