HVAC panel lights

What ho one and all.

Think I am knocking my head against the wall in even asking but you never know.

My HVAC panel, as in the photo, shows the temp, fan speed etc in nice bright backlit light and I can see the info under most daylight / sunlight conditions. But the buttons on top and bottom are so poorly illuminated that they are only visible at night. Under normal daylight and more specifically in sunlight, I cannot seen what is printed on the button.

Is there a way to increase the illumination level so it is possible to see what button to press?

Thanks and toodle pip

PS: this photo does not do justice to my question as the button markings appear quite clear but in reality, during daylight driving, all I can see is a black panel, top and bottom.

I seriously doubt you can do much to increase the visibility of these buttons. For my money, the real issue with all Mazdas including this model is the fact that the HVAC panel is placed to low on the dash, causing the driver to take his eyes off the road for far too long in making adjustments. Usually, if I have my wife with me in the car, I just ask her to make the adjustments so I can concentrate on driving!
