I somehow got the Homelink programming to work the 2nd time with the remote garage door opener on the 3 sGT.

Couldn't get it to work on our 2013 Miata GT. So, went to (think its) step 6 where it says to press the "learn" button our the garage door opener. Then you have 30 seconds to press the Homelink button for 2 seconds. Worked like a charm on both the carriage house doors.

You have to do that to link the garage door opener itself to the newly programmed remote in the mirror. Without that step all you did was program the remote in the care car (the homelink mirror) to the same channels / frequencies as the original remotes and not actually connected it to the garage door opener itself.

What I couldn't do was to get Homelink to work on my gate opener, even using its learn mode. The story there is that I need a new $80 board for the gate opener. We continue to use the portable NICE gate openers in the 3 and Miata. Didn't even try to get it to work in the Miata.
