Hi Everyone,

Since we are all modifying our cars and people tend to take notice of it but sometimes we get some shady people's attention as well and they might get tempted to steal our cars... I know there are those bulky steering wheel locks or pedal locks but those are too taxing and too hard to do on a daily basis.

has anyone done some sort of like a "circuit breaker" that would not let the car start unless it's pressed from the inside of the car.

I know there's wire diagrams on the manual but im not so good at electronics and would be glad if anyone would be able to provide a How-to for that?

preferably 2014+ models :)

Thanks a lot for your help

You're referring to a "kill switch". There are several ways to go about it, but it's based on personal preference... and secrecy. So, I think it defeats the purpose of a "How-To".
Exactly, the whole point is that it has to be secret and unique. If everyone's doing it the same way, then there isn't any point to it.

That said, given the advanced security found in modern cars, I really question the added value of a kill switch.

Thank you both for your responses.

yes i understand that it should be different for every car. that's when every individual should be crafty when it comes to hiding the wires and the kill switch. but i guess what im asking is which wire should i tap into or what route should i go for (no i dont wanna go through the firewall since im too scared to do that lol). no need to show where you hide your kill switch

May i ask what you mean by advanced security?

I mean for me i would like to add a kill switch so that i could protect my baby from bad people since i park my car on our driveway no garage unfortunately :(.

My dad's car's window (CX5 2016) got broken into and we didn't hear a single alarm and that made me paranoid :$

Your key has a security chip inside of it. The chip needs to be within range of the ignition switch (along with being the correct key shape) for your car to start. Not sure if ALL models have this feature though.

A kill switch isn't going to stop someone from breaking into your car... it may stop/slow them from driving off with it.

I can give you some ideas though. On my NA miata, there's a clutch switch that needs to be active to ignite the car. I simply replaced and relocated this switch elsewhere.

I know it wont stop them from breaking into my car. but at least i did my due diligence to secure my car even more.

Once i get enough posts i'd love to message you regarding your suggestion. :)
