Hello all,

I have posted before and still unresolved, any help will be appreciated

I have a 2011 LSM Speed 3 (purchased Sep 2010) with 15K, completely stock

I have 3 specific issues with the car:

-Since day one the car has been making a metal noise/ popping sound when backing up and making a tight turn (e.g. coming out of a garage) Have read of subframe bushings being the culprit, can anyone tell me what, when and where if you have them changed and final result?

-Rubbbing noise like the parking brake is stuck when moving from a complete stop, sometimes when making turms of even letting it roll backwards from an incline (gear in neutral, brake not depressed)

Just brought it back from dealer where they chaged the transmision fluid with friction modifier, saying it was the limited slip diferential, noise still there)

-Excessive wear on front tires inner shoulder (crazy wear, like grinded) alignment, toe, camber have been to specs and wheels rotated at 7K) Aside from being summer tires, FWD, etc this is NOT normal

Could all the above for any reason be related?

I am getting fed up going to the dealer (4 times already) open case with mazda and ready to do a report.

Any light you can shed on all this will be very much appreciated!!!!!

Rgds,

Ivan

Thank you Warlord, still fighting with dealer, they were able to replicate the noise but still say unable to find the cause.

To all other MS3 owners that are experiencing same noises, can you please list your car year, mileage, where you live, I want to collect al lthis info and send to Mazda, fed up of hearing noises that should not be there

I had a 2007 speed 3 with about 40,000 on it and i had the same grinding rubbing noise when started from a dead stop and turning. Turns out for me it was a bad rear motor mount and it caused the tranny and motor to shift. You could feel the rubbing in the pedals. I know i had triple your mileage but those mounts do not last long at all.

same here 2010 ms3, first noticed around 7k now at 12k, still happens,

i noticed it happens more often when u brake, then turn the wheel, then take your foot off the brake and go, kinda like the turned wheel makes it louder

if you accelerate a little, take your foot off the break then begin your turn while already in motion it won't happen

But yes this is a problem, I've experienced the popping subframe (dealer fixed) obviously the brake problem (still happening) and a tireshop already told me about the rough inner toe wear on the tires, ( doubt the dealer will do anything)

hopefully mazda can do something

Hello it's ben a while, still doing the same rubbing noise (not all the time, but when it does very noticeable)

Two questions:

Popping subrame, how did you get it fixed? What did the dealer chage/repaired? Could you share the part number replaced if any?

Anyone had the rubbing noise fixed/ figured out?

Hello all, anybody got thsi issues figured out/ resolved?

Fromt tires: I just replaced all tires at 20K, front tires were down to the thread on inner shoulder but still good thread rest of tire. very unusual wear, dangerous as from outside you could not tell te excessive wear tires have.

Rubbing noise: the car still makes the rubbing/grinding noise when making left turns anf accelerating, sometimes even ddoing it when moving ina straight line from stop. This is not all the time, but often.

Metal on metal/ clanking noise: Still does it, not all the time, mainly when baking up and turning.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2011 with about 19000 miles on it and have the same weird popping or grinding noise when making tight turns. I hate the noise but have never really looked into the cause of it.
Seems to be an ongoing problem with Mazda owners and Mazda needs to take responsibility for it and fix the issue!

Wow sorry bout that Ivan. I don't know man it sucks chasing down noises, it could sound like it's coming from one area and be in a different area. The tire wear is telling me suspension of course, but if u have had an alignment it's hard to say what is causing it. Tie rod ends? Idk, something has to be just loose enough to fall into place during alignment and move while u drive.
