I currently have coolant fluid leaking from a recessed bolt of some sort on the driver side on my cylinder head on my 2008 Mazda 3i 2.0L. I have searched and search but cant seem to find any reference to this "plug". I was thinking it was a freeze plug of sorts but it is threaded with a hex head of some sort. Attached is a picture i was able to find of it(it is the rusty recessed plug in the picture), any help identifying this part would be useful!

TIA

No positive but i assumed it was since it has a head of sorts for removal. I have only ever seen the rounded smooth face freeze plugs, and I cant find any reference of this type of plug anywhere! Im going under the hood tomorrow to survey the leak and attempt repair but was looking to gain some insight before i dive in.

Coolant leak at drivers side plug

Did you ever figure out what the plug on the drivers side is? My daughters 06 Mazda 3 leaks from the same spot on occasion, other times it stops. Other than your post I can't find anything about it.
