I wonder how Mazda got in agreement with Toyota to sell a rebadged Mazda 2
How is such a HUGE agreement even made??
And then Mazda agreed not to sell it under their name either?
Do they just build it and rebrand it and ship them to Toyota?
I know this has happened before with other auto manufacturers like when GM sold the Prism and it was just a rebadged Corolla
it just boggles my mind because like 99% of the components down to the plastic buttons and switches are all mazda
The only major difference is the front bumper and headlights
Everything else inside and out back to the tail lights are all mazda
Even the keyfob is Mazda's!! They didn't even bother to adapt Toyota's Fobs
So because its now branded as Toyota... you will have to take it to the Toyota dealer for any repairs
That means the technicians will need to learn the Mazda design inside and out and replacement parts are all Mazda sourced
Sorry about the 'rant' I'm just curious and I've never found any info on how this happened and what agreements both companies came too
I wish Mazda at least sold the Mazda 2 hatch or sedan versions with the KODO design (not the CX3)
Anyway welcome to the forum
