Hey guys!

So about 4 months ago I was in communication with K2Motor about some aftermarket headlights they were working on for our cars. Originally they were designing them off of the stock HID's that only come on the Mazdaspeed Tech Package Models which were 2011+ . After talking with them I emphasized that there is a very limited amount of people that actually would have the stock HID's, and after test fitting their first prototype on a buddies speed, they also realized that they were working off of the european specs and ran into some issues.

I hadn't heard from them in a long time and thought they had given up on the project, I had e-mailed them several times suggesting their R&D work on a version compatible with the regular Mazda 3's that have Halogen. They told me they would look into it and it looks like that's just what they did!! After about 3 months of not hearing anything, someone on the Mazda3Revolution forums posted up the K2Motor headlights AND they are for sale!! They come in an optional Blacked out or chromed housing which I think is great!

Id be interested at the 21+ price range. Also If i have aftermarket H11 Kensun 6k HID would they fit into this housing? It looks like it but Id like to be sure.

I just got an e-mail response back asking about aftermarket HID's and he said as long as it's H11 it will work :]

I am gonna try to get a set really soon so I can try it out and answer everyones questions.

Unfortunately K2Motor got the group by pricing mixed up with another group buy they are doing for the Subaru lights. haha

The price has gone up a little more, but the good thing is After 1 day we already have 16 people on board so I think we can easily get 21+ !! Maybe if we hit 30 they will cut it down even more, who knows

Finalization of everything is Monday, so the price may change. I did find out that shipping will be included but I will have to ask about Hawaii just to be sure.

Also, those in California will have to be charged Sales tax as well.


But either way, these head lights will never be this cheap again! As long as everyone who has said they are interested really buys them, then we will all save a ton of money!

I spoke with K2 motor and obtained more details on how the lights work. I thought I'd forward some of this useful info:

1) There is no separate high beam bulb, like in the stock system. There is 1 dual filament H11 halogen bulb in the projector which can switch between low/high beam. If we plan to use HID kits, we must buy an HID bulb with low/high beam capability or we will loose our high beam (if we do not have the dual bulb). Most HID kits can switch between low/high beam, but a special bulb is required. Here is an example of a HID bulb for high and low beam:

2) The system is completely plug & play- no splicing is needed of the parking/corner lights to get the DRL LEDs working (the video suggests that we may need to splice wires for LED headlights). When you turn on your night low beams, the DRL LEDs stay on. For Canadian cars, the LEDs are supposed to come on as soon as the engine is on (like our stock DRLs) during the day/night and the high beams will not give off half intensity through the projector during the day. The LEDs also stay on when the low/high beams are on. This is because the connections in the headlight are inverted differently than what is found on stock Canadian Mazda 3 headlights.

Awesome information! The high beam thing isn't really a priority for myself, I never use high beams at all. Then again I live in a highly populated area so there is plenty of light at night.

I'm just glad we can still use our HIDs.

K2Motor hasn't e-mailed me finalized details yet but I will post them as soon as I get it!

For those planning to use HID kits, keep in mind that there may be some modifications required to the headlights and/or wiring to get the system to work.

If we plan to use the plastic weather cover behind the projectors (where two sets of wires come out), one option is to connect the H11 plugs behind the cover (1 female from the HID kit and one male from the headlights which I assume is behind behind the cover) and find a way to fit behind the cover, all plugs & the rubber cap near the bulb, then lead all wires out (there will be ~4 extra wires going out from behind the rubber cap). I think it would be good to keep the weather cover on to avoid having water/condensation enter the lenses. Here is what the DDM system looks like; most other kits use similar wiring:

A 2nd option, is to bring the projector H11 male plug that is behind the cover to outside the cover, then lead the wires behind the HID bulb outside the cover somehow, leaving only the bulb inside (assuming the wires are long enough between the rubber cap and bulb- an extension may be required), and connect everything together outside the cover. There will be tons of wires outside as I didn't even mention the 2ndary connections to the stock headlight harness. Either way, it looks like we may have to modify the size of the openings on the weather cover or cut/reconnect the wires to allow them to come through the cover... Any other suggestions?

I will probably be cutting a small hole that will be big enough for all the wires to pass through on their cover. I agree that it would be best to keep that cap on there to prevent any kind of condensation build up.

I was suppose to have my set this week but they are still finalizing everything and I haven't heard back from them yet. But when I get my set I will experiment and post up how I got my HIDs to work.

I just received an e-mail of the finalized group buy pricing. This price includes free shipping to the lower 48 states. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada will be around $25 extra but it all depends on what area.

I will be receiving a link soon where everyone that is interested can put down a $50 deposit when they are ready, and then the rest will be required a month from now.


I know the pricing has gone up, but this is the best deal they could offer us and it won't get any cheaper than this!

They are hardly going to make a profit on these light with the 15-20 pricing. That's why they had to base it off the original price. The EBay listing is also another amazing deal but they are honestly going as low as they can. Remember, the price listed is Shipped!! (For those in the lower 48. )

I understand a lot of people will probably take their name off the list, but I am sure we can still get 20! I will be having Mazdaflow and Mazdamovement post about them on Instagram as well to help promote.

This is pretty much the only Aftermarket headlight I know of for our cars as well. I believe that if we can get a good amount of people on board for this group buy, that we could probably get them interested in making tail lights! That would be sick!

I got pulled over for tail light tint and the CHP officer walked around my entire car and gave me 3 violations. He said nothing about my completely blacked out headlights with no amber coloring at all for the turn signals...

I highly doubt a cop would hassle someone over these headlights unless you put actual tint on them.
