I've seen a ton of posts here about fuse tapping accessories such as HIDS, DRLS, GPS, radar detectors, etc.

It seems many people here have fused their accessory wires to their engine ignition. While this DOES work, there are BETTER OPTIONS out there.

In the gen3 fuse boxes, there are two 7.5V fuses (one runs A/C, another runs audio). I highly recommend using this when fusing accessory power because in the offchance a fuse blows, you lose your A/C or audio....NOT engine ignition.


I just spent an entire weekend reading about wiring and fuse taps. If anyone has any questions please feel free to message me or post in this thread. There are several methods that "work" but ultimately there is only a few that are CORRECT - longterm.
