Hi all, I just had a question on how to install the Front Air Dam that Mazda offers for the 2019+ 4th gen models shown in the image below:

I have been looking everywhere on the internet to find any way on how to install this and how the part looks just on its own not on a car. Can anyone explain on how to install this thing or enlighten me on how it works? I'm not sure if you have to take off the front bumper or not.

1,000 yes, you have to take the front bumper off,
to do that there are several pull tabs and a few bolts on the radiator support when you open the hood
the front splash guard underneath below the radiator has to come off, super simple, just get under there and you'll see the bolts and pull tabs to remove,
and lastly the front half of each wheel well liner and the bolt thats right behind where the bumper meets the fender.

Once the bumper is off you'll see the screws to remove the grill from behind the bumper
Granted mine is a gen 3 but its just about the same.

It slides over your existing "small lip" and is held in place by clips, adhesive tape and a few small brackets. Under my lip it is the same as yours, I have a Prem Plus turbo that comes with the air dam/lip. I had to replace mine due to road debris, aka a concrete patch that came out of the road. Its less than an hr. job if you're handy. Cheers.

Oh okay I gotcha. That makes so much morse sense. I will definitely be installing this on my Mazda 3 as well as the rear diffuser they offer. I think they just look so clean when they are on. Do you know when you purchase a front air dam from a Mazda dealer, does it come with all the hardware?

Yes they will order everything that is needed. The rear is an entirely new lower bumper cover/piece.
You can get it cheaper through places like Bam wholesale parts online so use that as a price negotiating tool with the dealer. I had the dealership do mine and parts and labor totaled just under the retail prices for the parts.

For anyone looking at buying a 3 and putting the appearance packaging on…I had the dealership do it before I took delivery of the vehicle. This way everything was covered on the three-year, bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I would say the worst bit is trying to get those rivnuts on for the little rubber flaps. My 2 cents is take the undertray completely off and do it then, so much easier.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit, but since you've removed and replaced yours before, I was wondering how the bumper looks with it removed. My understanding is that there are holes drilled in the original bumper cover. Are they visible with the air dam removed or underneath? Mine has gotten a bit cracked/bent on one side from some "off-road" use and an unfortunate possum. It's fixable with some gorilla glue but I'm thinking to maybe just remove it altogether.

No holes or anything noticeable on the stock lip. Here is with the replacement on and the other pic is without one on.

The first is the cracked one on passenger side, then with it off. I pulled the paint protective film off and you can see that there were no scratches on it just the big crack. It looked way worse with the clear paint protective film on.
