Hello, maybe someone has already had such a condition. The problem concerns the 2018 Mazda CX-5 from the USA. Uploaded to MZD soft EU. After changing the region in the IC from the USA to the EU, the error of the passenger airbag indicator B00D5: 01-8A pops up. The car had no deployed pillows or belts. It seems to me that this is only due to the logic of the signals after changing the region, because when I return to the USA region, the error disappears, but then the Polish language of the speedometer messages also disappears. Maybe someone has already had such a condition and will suggest something?
Regards

If I remember correctly, there was something about USA version having an other airbag system as other regions (one step vs. two step deployment) - perhaps thats the reason for the DTC.
and how to deal with it. because, for example, I also changed to other regions, China, Australia and the same error comes out and the airbag light is blinking on the speedometer. Some additional two-digit code can be read from that blinking, but I don't know what that will help. I also checked whether the RCM encoding changes somehow when changing the region, but nothing changes. I wonder if in this case there is a different signal on a different pin in the cube when changing the region? because the indicator of the activated passenger airbag is working properly and the only thing is that there is a blinking indicator.

Hi,

maybe the EU-CX5 have a manuelly "passanger airbag" deactivation-lock in the glove-box. Maybe Tristan-cx5 can confirm that. @Tomas86 do you have a deactivation-lock in your glove-box? Maybe thats the difference and provides the error.

Bye

The car is from the USA and has EU soft. This particular Mazda has an automatic airbag switch and everything is working properly, including the orange light above the air conditioning panel. Only the red indicator lamp for airbag failure on the claster is flashing. I will check the connection of the airbags and the wiring diagram in the US and EU versions. Maybe there will be a difference.

according to the diagram with this error number, from the panel with the passenger airbag deactivation indicator, two wires go directly to the instrument cluster, so maybe after changing the region you need to replace the pins in the plug?

1. can apply a constant voltage to contact E, and break contact J, then the passenger airbag will always work and there should be no error
2. I read on the Ukrainian forum that to swap these wires E and J
what do you say?
I'll check the wires. I will stick with the meter and change the region and check what changes on these wires in the plug. Apparently, changing to the EU panel for heating the seats can solve the problem, so I think there may be a difference in the location of the pins.
