Electric power steering motor w/i-eloop difference?

So I'm going to be swapping in a 2017-2018 eps motor into my 2014 sGT (with i-eloop) for testing with openpilot, but I've noticed there are a few different part numbers. There are two different versions for automatic and manual transmissions, plus two more for cars with and without i-eloop. Anyone know what the difference between these are? Particularly the automatic and manual transmission versions, I don't see what would need to be different.

I've checked wiring diagrams, and I've seen someone on a Russian site do this same swap for different reasons, I'll see if I can find that thread again. If you research the first and second generation units, both are identical inside and out, it appears to just be a difference in firmware. Like you said, it might go deeper than this, it's possible that it'll throw some DTC's and the unit won't function at all, but the sensors (wheel angle, torque, etc) are also the same between both 14-16 and 17-18 models, unless I've missed something.

I'm just wondering if there's any extra hardware in there for i-eloop, I don't understand why there would be. I guess the eps motor can run on i-eloop when charged, but electricity is electricity, I don't see what would be different.

I guess it might work after all, but you might have the check engine light or the steering wheel warning light on.
The i-eloop make the whole charging system different and when you goes hard on the gas, all the electronics start sucking energy from the e-iloop allowing the engine focus on power while you still have all the electronics working on your car.

My car does not have the e-iloop, and when you go hard on the gas the a/c compressor stop working, once you release the gas the a/c work again.

So the e-iloop will feed energy to the steering wheel under heavy acceleration.

Yeah, I was thinking I might get some DTC's, but if they're just related to i-eloop, I'll disable them through FORScan or something. As long as it works for power steering, whatever.

I just want to experiment with openpilot, and hopefully open a path for others to do the same if they're interested, because swapping out the eps motor isn't very difficult in this car. The only problem is figuring out exactly which unit to buy, because there are several like I said, and the one for i-eloop cars is hard to find.
