I haven't done this but I have thought about it. Some EL wire has a ridge that is made to stick in the panel gaps. I wouldn't glue it as that will be messy and damaging to the interior. I think some have wired it to the connection for their accessory lights or I guess you could find an open fuse and tap into that and maybe add a switch.
It seems like EL wire, and neon in general, is often overdone. A little goes a long way to add ambiance but too much and you have a disco, as well as poor night vision.
