I have 2004 Mazda 3,2.3L, Manual transmission, Hatchback. The ECU has corroded/broken pins going to the throttle body and needs to be replaced, throttle body is limp. I'd like to find a used one to save $ and have it reprogrammed. My PN is L373 18 881C E6T52275H1. I found one very close in PN L373 18 881E E6T52294H. Both are off a 2004 2.3L manual trans Mazda. Will Mazda service be able to reprogram this PN for my car?

can they? Yes. will they? Depends on the dealer.

Is it an old tin top ecu or the plastic cover unit?

Best bet is to contact the dealer(s) in your area with the information you've given us here, and see what they have to say.
