Hi All,

I’m looking to install my front sway bar as a part of the eibach kit I got last year.

I guess i’m bored and just want something to tinker with on the weekends, but has anyone done a replacement on the front sway bars? How hard was it to drop the front sub frame and replace the bar? I am planning to do this on my driveway with common tools. (I.e. jack, jack stands, breaker bars, torque wrenches and all bits available). Thanks!

Its not too hard to do, just a bit time consuming. The biggest problem will be actually pulling the bar out, thats a real pain. You need to twist and turn it every which way to get it out.....
Dropping the subframe isn't hard, just make sure you remove all the small push connectors for the undertray and fender liners that are attached to the subframe.

Thanks Gents, there are instructions online that eibach provided. Was simply wondering if there was any difficulty throughout the whole process (i.e. like @arathol said, pulling the bars are the hard part)

I also suspect it would be the hard part as well, considering there’s not much space to play around with when replacing them. I’ve experienced the same when installing my RSBs

Now you’re getting me paranoid. LOL.
I’m having flashbacks of when I first drove my car and the RSB bolts got loose, to which I had to repeat the whole process twice again to re-tighten the damn bolts holding the bar...

I’d imagine if that happens to the fronts, it would be a total nightmare.

No, actually, accessing the nuts and bolts is easy, its getting the bar out around the steering rack that can be tricky. Once its in, just use some loctite and torque everything to spec. Nothing should come loose.

What I did was partially drop subframe bolts as much as possible, it’ll drop like 2 inches. Have an extra set of jack stands to support the sub frame. I can’t recall but I think i also removed the bottom 2 bolts holding the shocks to get extra clearance or may have remove both shocks altogether. Either way you should invest in a set of 90 degree angle gear wrench, makes removing the fsb bushing a whole lot easier.

Go to Racingbeat.com and download the instruction. It's a good instruction except In my case (may be because my car was still new, bushings were still hard, or because mine is a 17 and their instruction was for earlier cars) I had to loosen up the control arm bolts too, else subframe wouldnt budge. You will need long extension to remove steering rack bolts.
I suggest getting greasable bushings for the bar, you dont want to remove them later if need to regrease.
