Looks good -- I think you did a great job installing! I did this on my first car, a 1997 Honda Civic that had fabric seats and a rubber steering wheel, and I loved the feeling of the leather and how it made the wheel thicker.

Does any of the stitching actually damage the vinyl/syponge surface of the steering wheel? Is it possible, with careful stitching, to totally avoid damage to it?

I doubt it...I kept the leather on until I sold it though, so I don't know what it looked like underneath.
