Hi all,

I'm planning on getting the aerokit for my mazda 3, i really love the OEM, but i think 399 a piece is really expensive. So i was wondering, how the aftermarket kits, like baysonr's or any other from ebay, looks vs the OEM. I really like the glossy, jet black color, but i think that the aftermarket are matte black.

EDIT: btw, i can't find the rear diffuser on ebay, have anyone fount it?

I can only help on part of your question. There is at least one aftermarket (much lower price than OEM), glossy front splitter, pretty sure made by Bayson R.

Here is a picture from another member's car. I think it is really attractive. It takes a little finesse to get it to fit as well as this member has (sorry I already have 500 Mazda 3 pictures, my car hasn't even arrived yet and I can not remember whose beauty this is).

I have not seen a glossy aftermarket glossy diffusers; does not mean that there are none, and hopefully another member can help on this and give you additional glossy options. Of course, everything can be painted and most still be less almost less than OEM.

I went with OEM and am getting 28% off the kit as part of my original sale negotiations.

Yeah there are only a few people making front lip but most are a low gloss/matte variant. You could get some gloss spray that they use on wheels when Plasti dipping them and make them glossy if you want. I haven't encountered the rear diffuser yet but they do make the side skirts but they are the same low gloss/matte. At first the aftermarket OEM aero started out with just the front piece but then the side skirts were made available some time afterward. So, I'm guessing they'll release the rear diffusor eventually.

There are also other aero kits out there for the 3 but they are harder to obtain sadly. There's a thread on them that's stickied in the appearance section

I know a dealer that offers pretty decent discounts on all OEM Mazda parts. I recently bought the side skirts to complete my Aero kit and it was $313 shipped vs $399 at the local dealer + tax.

If anyone is interested, let me know. I'm on my iPhone now and don't remember it off the top of my head but can look it up on the Mac when I'm home.

I can't comment on the quality of the aftermarket lips but I know that Mazda designed the OEM kit really well. We hit a tire last year and the lip tore off cleanly without damaging the bumper. All tabs broke off and this made putting on a new one easy as pie. I can imagine that had it been screwed in like crazy, which is what aftermarket kits would require, that the bumper would have been damaged and require a lot more cash to repair / replace / repaint, etc. just something to consider. You get what you pay for.

Looks like an identical copy to me. That's what these Chinese manufacturers do... they copy EVEYTHING from Range Rovers to iPhones and everything in between.

I buy oil filters in bulk (2,3) cabin air filter, etc so you save on shipping. Comes out way cheaper then my local dealer can ever try to do, even after their typical 10% off that they tried to discount for me. Of well.

I've bought aero pieces from Magic Drift on eBay for my STI before and the quality was just fine. I've got a front lip and side skirt extensions for my 2010 Mazda3 in the mail right now, too! I think I paid around $150 for all three pieces and will definitely post pics once I get them installed!

Maybe they haven't caught up yet. Call them tomorrow and find out when they'll update the site to include 2017 parts.
