I'm trying to get more info on the dashboard "key" symbol that appears before starting the vehicle. I just began noticing it this week. Checked the Owner's Manual but it did not provide a reasonable explanation.

My concern is that when I step on the brake pedal in preparation for starting the engine, a "key symbol" appears and it is solid "Green." The Owner's Manual says that if the symbol is "Red" I should contact the dealer. The vehicle starts and operates normally, but I still have concern. A

Anyone else experience this issue and what did you do to fix it?

I don't see what the problem is.....When the key symbol is red there is a problem with the ignition system or the key. The green key symbol means that the key is in range of the car and is functioning normally.....When its flashing green the battery in the key is low and needs to be replaced.

Thanks, this was exactly what I was thinking; however, the Owner's Manual did not elaborate on the Color nor anything about the Key Fob. Thanks for verifying my thought process!

I use Mazda2, and I found this on my owner's manual. It seems the key just needed a new battery. Mine use CR2025
