Hello I’m a new member, I have a 2008 Mazda 3 2.3 MT. I did a complete engine rebuild and now the car cranks and at first pulse the engine will backfire but will not start. I replaced the fuel pump already and it’s getting fuel and spark just will not fire.

The majority of the time this is a timing issue. Baxrok2 created a couple of youtube videos since after an engine swap he could not get his car started despite hiring somone to time his car for him. He covers the problems with setting the timing in a straightforward and clear manner.

I double verified the timing and everything is set and timed correctly but still won’t fire. Going to check all coils and plugs tomorrow.
