Hello,

I just bought a 2015 Mazda 3 i Hatchback Touring. I'd like to add a cigarette lighter adapter that is powered in the accessory position rather than always on. I'm just wondering if people have determined the best place to wire this in (presumably either the center console or the arm rest), and where the best place to access the wire would be.

Thanks!

I was assuming someone had done this before and knew where the best/easiest place to put it was. I was under the impression that the "Sport" model cars had two 12V sockets in the arm rest, one was powered off the ignition, the other always on. If that's the case, I was wondering if the wiring was already available there, and it might be as simple as just drilling a hole, pulling the wires through, attaching them to the new socket and then just clipping the socket into place.

The 2016 Sport had a USB and a switched 12v where the CD player goes. I hauled my CD and didn't find any other connectors. I'm guessing they use the CD connector for the USB/12v in the Sport cars, but I'm not sure of that.
FWIW the hole in the dash is more useful than the CD player.
