Hi all,
Just got back from a 2k miles road trip and I noticed that the car vibrates fairly badly at around 70-80mph.

It's through the entire car and not just the steering column and I'm fairly sure it's not warped rotors as the car vibrate when cruising along on the high way.

The tire is still the original OEM tires (dunlop I think?) and they have had 45k miles on them.
I rotate my tires frequently and they were just had an alignment done due to dealer doing the bumpstop for the coils.

I did take it to a tire place to do spin balancing mid way through the trip to see it would help but it was 40 bucks down the drain.

I was wondering if anyone has a similar how'd you solve it? Should I try for road force balancing again before buying new tires?

Two types of tire balancing, the regular spin balance without resistance force applied to the tire during the spinning process, and road force balancing which applies a force against the tires (mimicking the force the road exerts into the tires). Have on several occasions years ago, had my tires regular spin balanced, but that did not solve the vibration problem (as alignment and other things were already eliminated as a potential source), then when I had them re-balanced with the road force method, vibration went away. Last few decades, all my replacement tires are road force balanced (and have had dealerships do that to tires on new vehicles when they could not otherwise remove vibration).

However, as @arathol noted, with the amount of mileage you have on your Dunlap's, they probably need replacing, and strongly urge you to consider getting your replacement tires road force balanced at the onset.

Agreed with @Road Trip

On another note, 45k on the Dunlops...well done my friend. Not many people have had that kind of luck with those tires -- in fact some people report them being junk at 20k miles. Time to get rid of those! Don't waste any more money on them

Thanks all for the reply.

Yesterday evening I took mine to discount tire where they had a road force machine.
After having them roadforce balanced, it seems to have fixed it after 2 commutes.

I'm almost down to the wear bar so I plan on getting another 10k miles out of these before I switch them :)

I will have to try this. I am being plagued by vibrations throughout the chassis at highway speeds. New tires were installed and spin balanced, but it did not fix the issue. Rims checked for bends, alignment check, all of that is good.

IMO this is not uncommon on the Mazda 3, I've only driven 2 and both had steering wheel shake. One is mine, 21k miles, the other belonged to the service manager at the dealership, 6k miles.
Mine has since had 4 new tyres paid for by the dealer, and whilst the shaking is better it's not gone completely. Mine were balanced normally, I'd have to investigate a road force balance machine, that might well be the solution, but i don't know if we have them here in the UK or if we do, how easy they are to find, I've never seen them advertised.

Get them road forced balanced. Mazda cars are sensitive to tire vibration. If there is road force over 13lb it doesn't matter how perfectly balanced a tire is, it will shake. I've been down this same path wayyyyy toooo many times. Personally, the Dunlop tires that come with the car are 1) Overpriced 2) Not reliable. When I got my new 2014 GT there was an unpleasant vibration. I got rid of them early and am currently running Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 plus - with no vibration whatsoever, smooth as butter (regardless of speed).
Reminder, if you feel the vibration on you butt, or through your seats its typically an issue with the rear tires. If your steering wheel shakes, and or you feel it in the front floor board its an issue with the front tires.
