When coming to a rapid stop, I steadily press hard on the brake, but as many of you have found, Mazda 3's brake pedal feel is somewhat soft.

Anyway, couple days ago, I pressed the brake a bit earlier than needed and let it go and then almost immediately pressed the pedal again ( like pumping the brake). The pedal felt very HARD and the car seems to stop quicker than before...

I know you don't have to pump brakes with ABS system, but for whatever reason, on my car, if the brake was pressed and released and then pressed again within 1/2 second interval or less, the second time brake pedal feel is so much better (i.e. harder).

I tried the same on 3 other cars and a minivan we have at the house and they do exhibit a little of firmer feel, but not as much as Mazda 3.

I am wondering if this is a "feature" that I should be happy with or a concern I should look into.

This has happened on all 12 cars I've owned in my life, nothin to worry about.

It's how hydraulic systems work. As already mentioned no worries.
