I just got some RB springs and will be installing them soon.

While I'm at it, considering new struts/shocks and have settled on Bilstein B8s. I have upgraded front and rear sway bars and the RB springs are stiffer than stock and designed for performance.. so, seems like a good combo.

Anyone running this setup that would care to share their experience?

Also, as the Bilstein struts have an internal bump stop and covered shaft, what do you do with the external stock or 5x bump stop that sits on the shaft and the dust boot? Same for the rear shocks?

What have people done that works well for longevity?

It's finally cool enough outside to get this job going.. looking forward to it. TIA.

I was advised by bilstein to use the b6's instead of b8 due to the drop being less than 30mm with the racing beat springs.

The control and stability going around twisty roads or long fast sweeping bends felt phenomenal but ultimately I had to switch the rears out for the koni special actives as the rears were gassed a little too high for my liking going over the ridiculous amount of speed bumps around my local area, it felt just too harsh. I've had no hesitation leaving the fronts on and the car handles great, if I move to an area with less speed bumps the rears would be getting fitted again in a heartbeat.

You just leave the front bumpstops and dust covers with your removed fronts but refit the rear bumpstops to the new ahocks

Thanks for the info.

B6 it is.

Mind elaborating on your bump stop info? I think I get what you mean, but don't want to mess anything up. You don't use the front bump stop or dust cover on the new B6 struts but do use them on the rears? I have stock bump stops and covers for both. Just ordered some stock strut mounts and bearings too.

I have the Koni SAs on now with some H&R springs and 5x bump stops.

The previous Koni FSD struts failed early.. the rear shocks were ok but I wanted the SA anyways.

One of the SA struts failed too and was replaced under warranty but cost a ton in my shipping expenses..

Now I'm getting uneven settling and odd body roll in turns as they were only willing to replace the failed strut. Should have bought a new one at the time.. I think I'm done with Koni.

Revalving the rear shocks and bump stops may cure your issues for the B6s. Fat Cat Motosports (creator of the 5x bump stops) does it and has a youtube channel discussing all this stuff.

I would probably let a shop handle it for me. I think it costs like $150 or something..
Thx again.

Sorry was kinda unclear now I've read it back.

With the fronts you don't use the old bump stops or dust covers that you removed as you were correct that the bilstein come with an internal bump stop & a new dust cover. For the rears you remove the bump stops and dust covers from your old shocks and fit them on your new ones.

I'll look into having the rears re-valved if the konis seem to be failing or if I need to any other work on the the rear suspension. It seems a little harder to find shops who'll do it in the UK for some strange reason, maybe it invalidates your insurance or something if parts have been altered, so they might be scared to do it for fear of being sued.
