Hey guys! I'm running a 2015 Mazda 3 GT Sport with the Tech Package - Bi Xenon headlights with the Adaptive Front Lighting system. The lights are supposed to come across, dip down once, and come across when shining regularly. However, as you can see in the picture there are two dips (like a hill) instead of one. I'm not sure why they're offset in this way. I'm wondering if the Adaptive system is malfunctioning. Any ideas?
Did you change a headlight recently? Did you do some headlight leveling yourself?
It looks like your problem is that the passenger headlight is aimed too high, you need to level the headlight and aim for one single light pattern, check this thread:
Did you lower your car? Because lowering it can alter the level of the headlights. If I remember correctly there was some mention of a leveling device connected with the rear control arm or something like that that helps control the level of the headlights. Plus I saw a manufacturer advertise a part for lowered cars based on this issue too lol. I think CS produces it.
But this would affect both headlights so yeah. Maybe the passenger side bulb was installed backward/upside down. I had this issue when I installed CBI's to replace the OEM HIDs
I haven't done any leveling myself. The only thing changed on the vehicle recently is an alignment, which I'm wondering whether or is possibly connected. The thing is, it levels down 3 times, which makes me think the left side is too low! I'll fiddle with the vertical alignment tomorrow and see what works I guess. Thanks for the info!
The drivers headlight is aimed a tad lower than the passenger, presumably to ease glare for oncoming cars. You can change that yourself if you feel the need.
You can manually alter the aim level of the headlight with screwdriver for both headlights individually. My car has bi-xenon headlights with afs from factory but they were aimed too low. I've raised them up easily with a screwdriver.
This is the way to do it:
By the way, that is the unit for auto leveling. Attached to rear left arm.
