It sucks and I feel your pain.
But what can you do?
On a positive note - it does not look like there is mechanical damage. Fender and bumper are replaceable and the car will be new again.
This should not affect your insurance - you were not even in the car when it happened.
My previous car was a VW Golf, bought brand new. On the second day, driving from work, a rock flew from nowhere and hit my hood. Left a pretty good mark. Was I upset - you bet.
Things like that can happen. No protection, unless you drive where nobody else is around, or do not drive at all.
