If it helps you feel better, I drove my new S GT into a pole at a gas station (dumb white pole against a white wall), and had to replace bumper and headlight, paid out of pocket. Then rear bumper was crushed while parked and needed insurance for that. Body shop then "washed" the car and left swirl marks all over. Now checking the cost to polish it out.
At the end of the day, s*** happens especially in urban cities, and my insurance didn't hike because of the few other not-at-fault incidents this year. Put a little extra in the car maintenance fund to deal with these surprises and you'll soon realize there are more important things to worry about than a car's paint/appearance. And I'm still loving the 3 with its swirl marks and wheel scuffs.
